Laura Schmidt McLeman, CPA, CA previously owned and operated Citizen Abroad Tax Advisors for 20 years and expanded her team with Citizen Abroad Tax Services India in 2019. Laura is the current owner of The Clever Firm and Clever Fresher and provides services as a cross-border tax consultant to various firms providing cross-border tax services.

Laura created The Clever Professional Network because of her passion for connecting cross border professionals with the idea that networking and collaboration make us all better tax professionals. She equally wants to encourage more young professionals to learn and grow in the cross border tax profession and has created basic Canadian and US expatriate tax courses for juniors that allow for on demand learning and relieves firms of the necessity to teach the basics so senior professionals can focus on welcoming junior members and onboarding for culture and process vs the tax basics.
